Horton

Thank you, now I won't feel so dumb if someone ask for a Horton cake....He's actually cute..

Horton

OK, for all of you under privileged folks, here is Horton. This was a movie made from the Dr. Seuss book, Horton Hears a Who. If you have not had a chance to see this movie you really should. Holly says that she is glad that Dalton decided to fall in love with a movie that she and Justin actually like. We can't figure out what exactly Dalton loves so much about the movie but think that Jim Carrey's voice is what fascinates him so much. It is fun to watch Dalton watch the movie as his facial expressions change before the scenes do as he knows what comes next. He also knows a good deal of the dialog and will say it before the character does. Holly has made the decision that Dalton's second birthday will be Horton themed. LaDonna

Love the picture. I'm with Kathy, I am out of touch. I don't know who Horton is either. I know Aidan likes Elmo(his best friend)and Little Bear but I haven't heard of Horton. I better check this out because I'll probably get a cake order for a Horton cake....I had one last week with the Disney princess and a mermaid and the people wanted the characters switched on the cake and I had to ask someone which character was which...I get alot of calls for cakes with characters I never heard of...if they aren't in my book I'm lost. Actually I'm going to a food show this afternoon and will see all the new cake kits that are out. I even had a girl ask if I could draw her ultra-sound picture on a baby shower cake....I've learned alot about decorating but I'm no where near that good.....LOL.
Have a great day.

Horton who and what?

Wow, guess I am out of touch not being around any little ones. I know who Dora is because Melanie was Dora crazy, but I never heard of Horton Hears A Who. Dalton is sure a cutie. He and Aidan are two of the most photogenic little boys I've ever seen and we really enjoy seeing all the pictures as they grow. Seems like just yesterday they were little babies . . . time just goes by way too fast. Our "baby" Melanie started kindergarten this week. I talked to her Monday evening and she seemed excited about her first day. In fact, all of the girls had a good first day back to school. Scarlett's actual words to me were "It was great!" Now how often do you hear a kid say that about school! LOL

Nicole was not able to land a different position so she is still teaching Life Skills at Little Elm. She's got some tough ones to deal with this year so please keep her in your prayers that she has the strength and tenacity to get through another year and that she can find a position that is right for her.

Kathy

Howdy

Dalton says, "HOWDY PARDNER". This is a John Wayne fan in the making. He and his Dad love watching the Duke together. Of course his real preference at this time is Horton Hears A Who. He has become obsessed with Horton and would watch it many times a day if we let him. Each time it ends his lip comes out and big tears come to his eyes and he says, "all done". LaDonna

Worthy Cause

Yes, the picture you see is of my boy Gage. He has been turned into a girl for the purpose that this photo is being used. You see a very dear friend and owner of two Kingdom Dalmatian's was diagnosed with breast cancer a few months ago. A group of people decided to create T- shirts that could be sold to raise money for breast cancer research and awareness in her honor. I was asked if they could use Gage's image for their logo. I was honored. The graphic artist that did the work decided that Gage needed to not have the extra plumbing, as it was a kind of a woman thing. I was fine with that and we have not told Gage. If any of you would be interested in purchasing a shirt to help this most worthy cause you can go to http://www.spotacure.com/index.html The shirts can be ordered using PayPal right through the site or an order form can be printed and a check sent. Never the less, take a look at the site and you ladies please read the great information there. If you haven't had a mammogram lately now would be a good time to think about it. LaDonna

Fixed Problem

I'm glad to see that whatever the problem was Kathy that it corrected itself. I had not had any posts or comments missing so I'm not sure why you weren't getting them. Perhaps a problem with your server.

Your struggle with weight loss sounds very familiar to me. I will say you have done a much better job of keeping yours in check over the years than I have. It is a never ending struggle for some of us. I am back going to Weight Watchers and hope to shed some of these unwanted pounds. Each year as I get older it makes it harder to run around the rings with the dogs to show them, with me carrying all of this weight. Good luck in your endeavor. You guys have a safe and fun trip. I wish that I could slip down home that weekend, I would love to see you guys. I had already made prior commitments to be over in Ohio for Labor Day weekend. Maybe next time. LaDonna

Well, my computer made a liar out of me . . . my post showed up. Go figure.
Kathy

Question

Is anyone else no longer receiving an E-mail for new posts? Looks like the setting is still in place that I should be getting them so I have no idea why they are not coming into my E-mail. Maybe it's something with my computer, although I haven't changed anything. Oh well, I'll just have to remember to check here more often.

Julie, we laughed at your update. Norman said he wants to see that video Joe took of you chasing after Aidan in the tube . . . with a skirt on! LOL

We had two inches of rain the past two days with more in the forecast. This has been an unusually wet summer for us and I know I shouldn't complain but we are so tired of mowing grass! Thought we were going to get a storm but I see the sun is out again, although there are some dark clouds around . . . guess I better get outside before it does rain. It's so hot and sticky it's hard for me to get motivated to work with the mules. I don't like to wish time away because we have so little, but I have to admit I'm looking forward to fall, my favorite time of year.

I'm also looking forward to seeing some of you soon, although I dread the long drive. I'm sure "Mr. Truck Driver" will drive most of the way -- don't know if he doesn't trust my driving or what! I'm trying to shed a few pounds before we come home and I think I am having carb withdrawal. LOL Some things never change! This working at home is a killer when it comes to maintaining my weight. Guess it's a good thing I have so many chores to do.

Well, speaking of chores, I better get moving. Everyone take care!

Backyard Camping

Just wanted to send a reminder of the family camp weekend at Justin and Holly's next month. The plan is to gather the weekend of September 25-26. You may come for a meal, a day, or the whole weekend. We will have camper and tent sleeping space available to all. Weather permitting we will cook all of our meals outdoors over the fire. We ask that you bring some food and drinks to share. If you are unsure what you can bring check with Holly for suggestions. Looking forward to seeing everyone. LaDonna

Yahnke Update

It appears the last time I checked in was April with an update of the Yahnke household, so I figure I better play catch up!

Not much has changed in the way of jobs, we are both still at the same full-time jobs, and part-time jobs. I haven’t worked EMS since June, as I am on an as needed basis for them, but I am finally working my first shift (training finally completed that I started in April) on my own this Thursday as a firefighter for Springettsbury. We still spend most free time at the station in Red Lion as volunteers, Aidan is learning how the tools work, backs up the trucks and rolls hose!

Aidan had his birthday, which mom posted some of the pictures of his new ride! I understand why they call it the terrible twos, although it’s not terrible, just tiresome! Someone is very independent and can do it himself. He would prefer to walk than ride in the stroller and wants to see how far he can get when he is told no before I chase after him! We took him the Friday of his birthday to Chuck E Cheese, which I was deprived of as a child. He had a blast, except he wanted to go up through the tube that goes around the entire place. So I put him up in (after Joe convinced me to), and he starts running down through. Oops! He can’t find us, so he starts screaming. Joe & I are arguing who’s going up to get him, since I have a skirt on and Joe claims he is over the weight limit. So not so gracefully, I climb up in to find him. Yeah, he’s found, now he takes off running again! Joe decides to start video taping the event and calling friends, while I’m trying to climb through a tube that is clear so everyone below can see me chasing a 2 year old around while wearing a skirt!

We went to NY camping as usual for the week of July 4th. We rented a small cabin this year instead of a tent, which was good since it rained all but 1 day! We did get to a water park for an afternoon before it rained, which Aidan loved. Aidan also loved riding the bus that went through the park taking you into town. We even had Pizza Hut deliver to the campsite which was perfect since a bear eat all our food the night before! 8 other friends where camping as well with us, and we were only 10 minutes from Joe’s mom, so we were able to catch up with her.

We had friends come visit from Florida in July, and their brought their dog, a Weimariner, so we had two in the house which greatly confused Aidan!

We’ve been to a couple local ballgames here in York, as this is their second year with a team. Aidan has discovered the playground there, so we don’t get to see too much of the game! This past Sunday, we took the fire company for a picnic there, but it was also dogs in the park day. So Aidan spotted all the Tuckers running everywhere, then found the kiddie pool full of water for the dogs to drink out of, and decided to go swimming in it! YUCK! But he loved it!
Joe & I went with several friends to see Kidd Rock & Lynrd Skynrd at Hershey Stadium, which was a great concert.

Stefani’s mom rented a place in Ocean City, MD for a week the beginning of August, so Travis & Stefani went down for a few days, then Aidan & I drove down after church on a Sunday and came home Monday. Decided to spend the night this year, since we had bad whether last year when Stefani & I tried to take Aidan for the day! Thank goodness, since it poured rain the entire drive down on Sunday! Monday was awesome though and Aidan & Travis spent the day filling up holes with water, and Travis would built castles only to have Aidan kick them over. He only liked being in the water if he was being held, and I only drowned him once! Not sure who had more fun though, Travis or Aidan!

The following weekend, I took Aidan to the Buck to watch Combine Demolitions. It was fun and Aidan loved it, but I am paying the price now! He has decided to “Crash” all his cars, trucks, tractors and anything else that has wheels whenever he gets the chance! He even spent the day crashing Olivia (his friend that lived with us for awhile) during her 2 year birthday party Saturday on their bikes! Aidan, myself, Travis, Stefani & grandpa are going to Ag Progress Days tomorrow hoping to correct him of this bad habit he has now picked up!

That seems to catch us up for the time being! I included a few pictures to give you some visuals of our adventures this summer!

Showing Travis How Easy This Is

Travis is here so I decided to show him how easy it is to get on the family site.
These sunflowers are growing in my backyard.

Top Dog

I learned this weekend that Gage is the number five top Dalmatian for the UKC in the country so far for this year. He ended up in the top fifty last year with the AKC, which was his last year competing in AKC. He is always top dog in my heart. LaDonna

Look What I Found Growing Amongst My Snapdragons

Visit to PA

LaDonna, your camping pictures make me want to load up the horse trailer and go! Unfortunately, we just don't see a lot of opportunity to get away this year, but hopefully we'll get a few short trips in once the weather turns a little cooler. I see the northeast is having some pretty warm weather too so it looks like we are all in the hot and humid mode. I'm going to head out to the barn shortly to work before it gets too hot, and Norman is heading out to mow.

We are, however, planning a trip to PA over the Labor Day weekend. That gives me a three day weekend to be away from my office, and the other days I'll just have to work from my laptop. Work is usually slow around any holiday, so we figured if we wanted to make a trip back home that would be the best time to do it. We are not bringing the mules this trip -- too much trouble and trying to cram riding in with visiting makes it more hectic so this will allow us to just visit. I think we are going to leave Thursday, Sep 3rd, so we will be in town on the 4th and probably leave to come back early on Tuesday, the 8th.

Well, I see the sun is coming out from behind the clouds and fog so I better get going if I want to beat the heat. Everyone stay cool!

King Family Outing

We have returned from our week of camping. We met up with Wade & family last Friday in a remote site in one of Pennsylvania's state forests. There were no hook ups for the campers but we are all self contained and had generators for power. The nice thing about camping this way is we had the place to ourselves. Some of Wade & Nancy's friends also came with their campers and quads for a fun weekend of camping and quad riding. I nearly forgot to take any pictures but remembered late on the day we were leaving to get my camera out. Here are a few shots from that day. The first is of Holly taking Dalton for a little quad ride.
Here Holly gives Dalton a piggy back ride. Perhaps I should say horse back ride.

Here Dalton checks out Wade's new camper while Emily and her friend Jessica look on.
Emily up in her bunk.

Here Kenny relaxes in front of our camper with Wade's camper in the background. Wade's camper is called a toy hauler as it has a garage at the back end for hauling their three quads.
After a ride through mud Wade power washes his equipment before loading things up.
After the job of cleaning things up Wade stripped his riding cloths off and has a serious conversation with his Dad. This shot made me laugh with him in his boots. LaDonna
