Rain, Rain and more Rain!

We woke up to rain once again this morning. I am having trouble remembering what the sun looks like! I lost track of how much rain we've had after dumping the rain gauge so often but if you've been watching the weather you know it's been very wet out our way. We are high and dry so we don't have to worry about flooding, just lots of mud! This morning's rain is just that, no thunder and lightening, but I woke up at 3:00 AM Friday morning to severe storms . . . or, I should say, Trapper woke me up because he is scared to death of the thunder. I have no idea why our dogs always seem to get that way -- he wasn't like that when he was younger but the older he gets, the more afraid he seems to become. I knew the lightening hit something because I saw a big flash outside and I was worried about fire but everything appeared to be OK. I later discovered that it zapped the phone in our kitchen and also killed the GFCI plugs in the bathroom. I don't understand electricity and how that happened and nothing else was affected, but I am so thankful it spared all my electronics. I did not like that phone anyway and have been sorry ever since I bought them, so I'm kind of glad I now have an excuse to get new phones for our personal line.

Norman got home Friday night after being gone for two weeks and it's nice having him home. We had a break from the rain yesterday so he did get quite a bit of the mowing done to spare me having to do it this week, although it won't be long until it needs done again. He is anxious to get his bush hog so he can get out and mow the pasture with his new tractor.

We are counting the days until Lacy foals. She is quite big and you can tell her milk is starting to come in so it won't be long now. I don't expect the baby to arrive until around the middle of the month, but I am still keeping a close eye on her and I hope to be there for this birth.

Enjoy your day of rest before the week begins once again!

Kathy
